You have a website or a digital brochure?
Most business websites are digital brochures — they have basic information and look decent, but they do absolutely nothing to convert visitors into customers. A website that does not convert is an expense, not an investment.
The average conversion rate for business websites is just 1-2%. That means out of 1,000 visitors, only 10-20 take action. Well-optimized websites achieve 5-10% conversion rates. Here are the eight reasons yours is probably on the low end.
Reason 1: Your site loads too slowly
53% of mobile visitors abandon a website that takes more than 3 seconds to load. Each additional second reduces conversions by 7%.

Quick fixes:
- ✓ Compress images (use WebP format instead of PNG/JPG)
- ✓ Enable browser caching
- ✓ Minimize CSS and JavaScript
- ✓ Use a CDN (Content Delivery Network)
- ✓ Choose quality hosting, not the cheapest option
Reason 2: No clear call-to-action
Visitors do not guess what you want them to do. If you do not clearly tell them "Call now," "Get a quote," or "Book a consultation," they will do nothing.
- ✓ Every page needs at least one visible CTA
- ✓ CTA buttons should be in a contrasting color
- ✓ CTA text should be specific ("Book a free call" not "Click here")
- ✓ Add a CTA in the header — visible on every page
- ✓ On mobile, phone numbers must be tap-to-call
Reason 3: Not optimized for mobile
70% of web traffic comes from mobile devices. If your website does not work perfectly on a 6-inch screen, you are losing 7 out of 10 potential customers.
Reason 4: No SEO
If you do not appear on Google when someone searches for your service, you simply do not exist online. 68% of all online experiences begin with a search engine.
Reason 5: It does not build trust
A visitor decides within 5 seconds whether your website is trustworthy. What they look for:
- ✓ Real testimonials with names and companies
- ✓ Portfolio or case studies
- ✓ Visible contact information (phone, email, address)
- ✓ Professional design (not something from 2015)
- ✓ SSL certificate (HTTPS)
- ✓ Prices or price ranges — transparency increases conversions by 20-30%
Reason 6: Your contact form has too many fields
Each additional form field reduces completion rate by 11%. A form with 10 fields will have less than 5% completion rate.
The ideal form: Name, Email or Phone, Message (optional), Submit button.
Reason 7: No dedicated landing pages
A single "Services" page listing everything does not convert. Someone searching for "Google Ads management" does not want to read about branding, SEO, and social media.
Create a dedicated page for each main service, optimized for its specific keywords, with relevant testimonials and CTAs.
Reason 8: You are not measuring anything
Without Google Analytics and conversion tracking, you are flying blind. You do not know where visitors come from, what pages they view, where they leave, or how many actually convert.
Quick checklist
- ✓ Loads in under 3 seconds on mobile
- ✓ Has a clear CTA on every page
- ✓ Works perfectly on phones
- ✓ Appears on Google for your services
- ✓ Has testimonials and portfolio
- ✓ Contact form has 3-4 fields maximum
- ✓ Has dedicated pages per service
- ✓ Has Google Analytics with conversion tracking
If you checked fewer than 5 out of 8, your website needs serious work.
